Description
What happens when fear convinces you that you can never do something again?
Eight-year-old Jeremiah loves riding his bicycle through the woods, racing with his friends, and spending time with his twin sister, Julia. But after a painful bicycle accident, everything changes. Although his injuries heal, Jeremiah’s fear doesn’t. He stops riding, avoids horseback adventures, and watches from the porch as the people he loves enjoy the activities he once loved.
Then, one spring morning, Julia finds a tiny, injured bird hiding beneath a bush near their house. The bird has a broken wing and is too frightened to fly. The twins bring her home, care for her, and give her a beautiful name:
Zoe, which means “Life.”
As Zoe slowly begins to heal, Jeremiah sees something familiar in the frightened little bird. Zoe is afraid to use her wings, just as he is afraid to get back on his bicycle. And perhaps, without realizing it, the two of them need each other.
Jeremiah makes a brave decision: if he can help Zoe rediscover the wind beneath her wings, maybe he can rediscover his own courage too.
But just when it seems Zoe is ready to face her greatest challenge, an unexpected encounter at the park puts her life in danger.
With a determined dog racing after her and nowhere left to run, Zoe must finally make a choice:
Stay afraid or fly.
